Getting Ready for your boudoir session
Boudoir Sessions are fun, uplifting, and empowering! They also require a lot of planning, preparation, and communication. This guide will walk you through all the steps to help ensure your shoot goes smoothly!
Confident and relaxed subjects create stunning photos!
Your comfort and confidence mean everything when it comes to capturing amazing photos! Our goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can truly feel at ease. We are always here to offer advice and guidance, but at the end of the day, you have the final say—this is *your* experience. That’s why open communication is so important, from our pre-shoot consult to our weekly check-ins. Don't worry, we have your back every step of the way!
How to start the process.
Reach out however you’d like—email me, DM me, or even stop me on the street and let me know you're interested in working together! I’ll probably say *“Awesome Sauce!”* give you a high-five, and happily answer any questions you have. Since you're here also check out my FAQ page. There is no pressure at all to go past this point—if you don’t feel the vibe, that’s totally okay! I’d be more than happy to recommend other amazing photographers in the area. It’s all about finding the right fit for *you*!
Booking and Preshoot questions
When you're ready to book your session, take a look at my boudoir packages and find the one that feels right for you. And don’t worry—you don’t have to pay the full amount all at once! I typically split the booking fee into two installments: one at the time of booking and the other a week before your shoot. If you need a different payment plan, we can absolutely work something out.
Once you're all set, we'll have a relaxed, open conversation about your vision for the session. We’ll chat about what you love (or maybe don’t love) about your body, go over wardrobe ideas, and even talk about your favorite music to help set the perfect vibe. This conversation is usually done over the phone or via video chat, but if you'd prefer to meet in person at a public spot, that works too! And if you’d feel more comfortable having a friend with you, you’re absolutely welcome to bring someone along. This experience is all about *you*, and I’m here to make sure you feel supported every step of the way! After that, I will check in with you from time to time to see how you are feeling, share any important updates, and invite you to ask any questions.
The lead up
3-5 Weeks from your session.
Order your outfits and make sure you love how they fit! Check out my FAQ page for recommendations of places to order outfits.
If you’re planning on waxing or tweezing, schedule it about 5–7 days before your shoot so any redness has time to fade.
Start Tanning if that's your thing. I would recommend that you avoid spray or other chemical tans.
Book that mani-pedi! Aim for 3–5 days before the shoot so your nails look fresh.
Refrain from activities that might cause bruising as much as possible ie bull riding, full contact sports, MMA fighting
3-5 Days out
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Seriously, drink lots of water—your skin will thank you. And don’t forget to moisturize after showers for that extra glow!
Do a final outfit check—make sure everything fits just right, snip off all tags (even the sneaky sewn-in ones), and pack everything up.
If you're doing your own hair and makeup, set aside any products or tools you’ll need so they’re ready to go.
Double-check the shoot location in your phone and make sure your boudoir buddy is still good to go if you’re bringing one!
The night before
Do one last check to make sure everything is packed and ready to go.
✅ Outfits – The outfits we had discussed and don't forget a robe!
✅ Loose, comfy clothing – For before and after the shoot to avoid marks on your skin.
✅ Hair & Makeup Essentials – Touch-up items like lipstick, powder, hairspray, and a brush/comb.
✅ Skincare & Hygiene – Lotion, deodorant, and anything else to stay fresh.
✅ Water & Snacks – Staying hydrated and energized is key!
✅ Confidence & Good Vibes! – The most important things to bring! 💕
Eat a good meal that’ll keep you feeling energized for the big day.
Skip the salty foods and alcohol to avoid any bloating or dehydration.
Set your alarm (if you need it) and get a solid night’s sleep—you’ve got an amazing shoot ahead!
The Big Day
Doing your own hair & makeup? Arrive with it already done and ready to go!
Ditch the tight clothes & accessories – No watches, hair ties, or anything that could leave marks on your skin.
Eat a light meal beforehand to keep your energy up (and yep, keep hydrating!).
Give yourself extra time to get there—no need to stress over last-minute surprises!
We understand that you might want to use some "liquid courage" and we have no issue with that but we will limit you to one or two servings.
Now, take a deep breath and get ready to shine! ✨📸💕
